Access Denied
A project commissioned by Filmtheater Hilversum. The assignment was to insert useless space from outside the building within the interior. A portrait framed in three parts on a wide screen outside. On the left a slender boy in a clinical bathroom, indecisive, pestered. In the center we see a young woman, floundering under water with tempestuous arm movements, talking in air bubbles. On the right a woman pacing up and down in a room full telephones, wires and phones. Mother and son are complicated in an unsolved conflict. The detained mermaid is a metaphor for the non cease struggle and irreconcilable distance between them. Despite in expressive colors with emotional texts portrayed in a symbolic way a universal family drama.
